NEARfest X (part 3: Rudess meets Green)

So, at the after party (Saturday night at The Comfort Suites bar), I introduced myself to Jordan Rudess. He was one of the more aloof guys I met. I told him I liked The Road Home CD, and, remembering that he did a Gentle Giant cover, I asked if he ever met (Gentle Giant guitarist) Gary Green. He hadn't, so I took him over to meet him. I kind of disappeared into the background. I came back a little later to find them still talking, so I asked if I could take a picture of them together. They were happy to, and then Rudess asked me to take another one with his iPhone.

I dunno; I just thought it was kinda cool.

Much to my delight somebody mentioned to me that Gary Green of Gentle Giant was hanging out in the bar as well. Wasting no time, I wandered over there and introduced myself. Of course you all know that I am a HUGE GG fan and it was a thrill to say hi to Gary.

We had a cool talk. It was really fun for me to hook up with one of the guys from a band that had such an impact on my life! Here is a pic of me a Gary. Sorry though - this is not up to the standards of a Tony Levin picture as I just handed my iPhone to a person in a fairly dark room. Nonetheless, it captured the moment!

I guess I'll post my version of the pic in a comment on his MySpace page...
