Potato Mummy Annual #1 now available

 Potato Mummy Annual #1 is now available.

As of this post, it is on the shelf at the comic book shop Pulp Fiction Long Beach.

It can be ordered, with a variety of options via the PaulShararArt eBay store.

Below are the first two "sketch covers" I did. But these are really 'planned out drawings' rather than sketches.
The back cover of this comic has the "trade dress" (logo, price, issue #, etc.) but no artwork, so anyone can draw their own cover -- rather than having a separate variant cover for this purpose.

This comic is a fat 64 pages. It features stories and artwork by myself, and Paul Sharar, Michael Daedalus Kenny, Dave Castr and Rafael Navarro. Potato Mummy was created by my friend Eric Neil Dunn. He wrote and I drew Potato Mummy #1 in 1996. In 2020, Paul Sharar presented the idea of publishing a new collection of Potato Mummy stories by various writers and artists. Eric and I were talking about what we were going to bring to the table, but tragically he passed away before we could start work on something. We all agreed to push forward with the project in his honor. My contributions: I drew the cover, drew some art for the first 3 inner pages, drew and lettered one story written by M.D. Kenny, lettering on various stories, graphic design and production art for the whole book, etc. I hope this comic gives you a chuckle.

 

Potato Mummy Annual #1 off to the printers

Me and some other guys have been working on this comic book, and we just handed it off to the printers.

(I may do a video soon to give my version of the background story of this comic.)

It's 60 pages, and features material by Michael Daedalus Kenny, Paul Sharar, Dave Castr, Rafael Navarro and myself. I drew a 4-page story in it, the cover, a few random pieces, and did production art, graphic design, lettering, etc throughout the book.

Potato Mummy was created by our friend Eric Neil Dunn, who sadly left the planet while we were in the early stages of working on this comic. We decided to carry on the project in his honor. In 1996, he wrote and I drew Potato Mummy #1. This Annual is not a continuation of that story line. The Annual contains a bunch of great stories from various times in this character's history.

I joined three other artists who are contributing to the forthcoming Potato Mummy Annual #1.
This comic is planned for release in December, 2021 from Pausharart.
Dave Castr, Paul Sharar, Bob Kurthy (me) and Rafael Navarro. 

The book is really coming together.
The artwork from Dave and Rafael, who are new to Potato Mummy, is looking fantastic.
I already really think Potato Mummy creator Eric Dunn would have been proud and excited to see his character being further developed and visually realized the ways it will be in this upcoming comic.

The long awaited return -- this December...

Valley of the Vapors VOV 2021 logo

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to create a typographic design for the 2021 Valley of the Vapors Independent Music Festival in Hot Springs, AR for Low Key Arts.

 I designed the main logo, and the blocky 'VOV' logo and it's extruded form that can be seen elsewhere in their web campaign. The background was created by another designer. (will credit when I find out)
